No single technical indicator, greek, or news catalyst works 100% of the time in a vacuum. The greatest traders use "Confluence".
- Confluence: When multiple distinct types of analysis (e.g. a fundamental catalyst + structural chart support + high options volume) all point in the exact same direction.
- The Top-Down Approach:
- What is the broader market/economy doing?
- What is this specific sector doing?
- What is this specific stock's relative strength and catalyst?
- Where is the microstructure/order flow confirming the entry on the 5-minute chart?
